Ol Pejeta & Mount Kenya — 3 Days

3 Days

Duration: 3 days / 2 nights · Destinations: Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Mount Kenya foothills, Nanyuki · Best months: year-round; January–March and June–September driest

Overview

This is our home turf — Go Round Africa was born in these green highlands — and it holds a story found nowhere else on Earth: Ol Pejeta protects the last two northern white rhinos alive, alongside East Africa’s largest population of black rhinos. Add rescued chimpanzees, lion and elephant, the Equator line, and Mount Kenya’s jagged crown, and you have Kenya’s most meaningful short safari.

Day 1 — Nairobi to Nanyuki & the Equator

A scenic 3-hour drive north past coffee and wheat country to Nanyuki. Stand with one foot in each hemisphere at the Equator marker, then enter Ol Pejeta for an afternoon game drive: rhino, buffalo, elephant, and northern Kenya specials like Grevy’s zebra. Overnight: [camp/lodge], dinner included.

Day 2 — Rhinos, chimpanzees & conservation up close

A full conservancy day. Visit the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only place in Kenya to see our closest relatives, rescued from across Africa. Meet the caretakers of the last northern white rhinos — a humbling, unforgettable encounter — and learn how your park fees directly fund rangers and community projects. Evening game drive for lions. All meals included.

Day 3 — Mount Kenya morning & return

Sunrise with Mount Kenya’s peaks on the horizon, an optional nature walk or visit to one of our community partners near Nyeri (ask us — many guests call this the highlight), then the drive back to Nairobi by late afternoon.

Cost includes: conservancy fees, 4×4 and driver-guide, 2 nights accommodation, meals as listed, chimpanzee sanctuary visit, bottled water, Nairobi transfers, 24/7 support. Cost excludes: flights, eTA/visa, required travel insurance, optional activities (lion tracking, bush walks) [$XX], tips, drinks.

FAQs

  • Can you really see the last two northern white rhinos? Yes — Najin and Fatu live under 24-hour protection at Ol Pejeta, and a scheduled visit to their enclosure can be booked as part of this safari, subject to conservancy availability.
  • Is 3 days enough for Ol Pejeta? Yes. The conservancy is compact and wildlife-dense, so three days delivers rhino, chimpanzee and big-cat sightings without long driving days.
  • Why book this trip with Go Round Africa specifically? This is literally our backyard — our team is from Nyeri and Nanyuki, and we add community visits no outside operator can offer.
